一閃一閃亮晶晶 濃郁紫紅如火星
近日本所收到一個特殊的物件，20克拉重的天然紫紅色鋯石。市場上一般將蘇聯鑽(合成立方晶系氧化鋯ZrO2)稱為方晶鋯石，甚至有當作天然「鋯石」販售，使的真正的天然鋯石在台灣珠寶市場中較為冷門。天然鋯石的成分為矽酸(ZrSiO4)，由於折射率高(1.9)，具有亞金剛光澤，車工比例良好的鋯石，火光閃爍程度就如同鑽石一般，商業上又稱為「風信子石」。鋯石中最常見的顏色為綠色和黃色，有別於其他彩寶的色彩鮮豔，鋯石的顏色飽和度低，都會帶有些微灰、棕感。天空藍色鋯石多經熱處理，是海水藍寶、帕拉依巴碧璽以外的絕佳選擇，具有與之類似的顏色，但更超凡的閃爍程度。今天客戶送驗本所的這顆是紫紅色風信子石，在市場上相對少見，他的顏色不像紅寶般帶螢光感，也不是紅珊瑚般喜氣洋洋的大紅，而是一種更深沈、更有韻味的紫紅色，伴隨著閃爍的刻面反光，如同千百枝火箭向外射出一般美麗，甚至可比喻為紅彩鑽的最佳替代品！下次再遇到這美麗稀有的紅風信子石，請別誤會成人造紅色蘇聯鑽囉！
A rare stone was sent to TULAB recently which was a 20 carat purplish red zircon. Synthetic cubic zirconia is sometimes misidentified as natural zircon, thus zircon is not so popular in Taiwan’s jewellery market. Zircon is composed of zirconium silicate(ZrSiO4) which differs from zirconia(ZrO2) and is an alternative for diamond due to its high R.I. and sub-adamantine luster. The most common color of zircon is green and yellow; its color is usually of low saturation(greyish or brownish). Sky-blue zircon is always color enhanced by heating which looks similar to aquamarine or even Paraiba tourmaline but shows more brilliance. This purplish red zircon from our client is relatively rare in the market. Its color is not like ruby or red coral but a very charming dark purplish red color. With the color and brilliance, red zircon is the best alternative for red diamonds. So, please do not misidentify it as synthetic cubic zirconia when you saw it.
