台灣市場彩寶收藏漸趨熱門，除了基本款的翡翠紅藍寶以外，帶有變色效應變色寶石也越來越受消費者青睞，諸如亞歷山大變石、變色硬水鋁石、變色石榴石、變色剛玉乃至於變色龍鑽石等。近日，台灣聯合實驗室驗到數顆具有超強變色效應的人造榴石。拉曼光譜儀與X光螢光光譜儀鑑定後，本所認為是新品種的人造石榴石。成分中含有釔、鈰、鋁、矽等元素，本所認為這是一種由部分矽取代鋁，非典型的釔鋁榴石(Y₃Al₂(AlO₄)₃)。其變色效果竟有三種以上，LED燈下為黃色，日光燈下為綠色、白熾燈下為紅色。外國廠商在市場上竟以天然變色榴石或變色硬水鋁石的名義銷售之，消費者請小心選購，若當天然買入，那不只寶石變色，臉色也變綠囉！

Various colored stones are more and more popular in Taiwan’s jewellery market, especially stones of color changing effect are extremely hot, such as alexandrite, zultanite, color-changing garnet, color-changing corundum and chameleon diamond. Recently, TULAB received an item which might be new species of synthetic garnet. EDXRF test reveals that the synthetic color-changing garnet is composed of Ce, Y, Al and Si, not typical YAG(Y₃Al₂(AlO₄)₃). The stone has very strong color-changing effect: yellow under LED light; green under fluorescent light and red under incandescent light. Consumers should be aware that foreign distributor sell the stones as diaspore or color-changing garnet.
