不可不知新產地『喀什米爾紅寶』
日前有客戶送驗數個顏色半紅半紫的剛玉到台灣聯合鑑定中心，其特色是紅色的色帶特別明顯，且紅藍雙色分明。經台灣聯合三位鑑定師仔細檢查且找尋文獻後發現，這些寶石是來自一個特殊的產地，巴基斯坦的巴塔庫迪。然而這個產地卻很少聽聞，原因是該產區位於喀什米爾峽谷西北方僅數十公里距離，所以該產區的紅寶、粉剛或藍寶石，在市場上仍以「喀什米爾」產區註記，即使連GIA證書也以「巴基斯坦 / 喀什米爾」寫法註記其產區。新產地何其多，寶石的產地判別其實面臨許多挑戰，鑑定所唯有不斷更新的產地研究資料才能判斷其可能的產地來源。
A parcel of pinkish purple corundum is sent to TULAB, the most significant features of these corundum is the sharp boundary of the red color band inside the stone. After a series of examination, TULAB gemologists confirm these corundum is from Batakundi, Pakistan; the origin is located next to the border of Kahimir; therefore corundum from this origin is always described as Kashmir ruby or Kashmire sapphire.
