近日客戶送驗一顆粉紅色「摩根石」，經本所鑑定師採用拉曼光譜儀、折射儀、比重等方法檢驗後，確認為粉紅色螢石。螢石硬度僅有4，表面有明顯刮痕且亮度火光較弱，客人表示是兩年前在珠寶礦物展覽中，以「摩根石」名義購入。不論是在網路、電視購物或珠寶礦物展覽所購得的寶石，消費者對於無鑑定書的物件還是應持保留態度，不可盡信賣家三寸不爛之舌。與其買錯寶石繳學費給賣家，不如買一本「實用寶石學」仔細閱讀，讓你從此不買錯，越買越開心!
Recently, a pink stone from our customer which is claimed to be “morganite” was finally identified as pink fluorite. There are scratches on the surface for its low hardness(4); it shows low brilliance and fire. Customer bought it from gems-and-minerals exhibition without any identification certificate. TULAB gemologists test it with raman analyzer, specific gravity and refrective index. No matter where the object is bought, consumers should not be fully convinced of its species or quality unless the object is certified by gem labs.
